Concerto for Harp in B-flat major, Op. 4 No. 6, HWV 294
by George Frideric Handel
HarpOrchestraBaroqueConcerto~16 minintermediate
Originally scored for harp or organ, this Baroque gem is the central concerto in the English repertoire for solo harp. Its three movements — a flowing Andante allegro, a lyrical Larghetto, and a dancing Allegro moderato — showcase the harp's capacity for both sustained lyricism and brilliant ornamentation. Written for the blind Welsh harpist William Powell, it has become the cornerstone of early harp pedagogy.
