One for All

Eckhard Kopetzki's One for All is a demanding solo snare drum work that has become a standard of the international percussion competition circuit. Kopetzki exploits a wide range of snare drum techniques — open and closed rolls, rim shots, cross-sticks, ghost notes, and precise dynamic gradations — within a through-composed structure that has genuine musical narrative rather than merely technical display. The title suggests a soloist who must encompass the entire spectrum of snare drum expression on their own. It is regularly programmed at ARD Munich International Music Competition and solo percussion recitals.
