The violin solo representing Scheherazade, the storyteller of the Arabian Nights, is the most famous concertmaster solo in the orchestral repertoire. Rimsky-Korsakov's orchestration is dazzling. Each movement tells a different tale: the sea, Prince Kalendar, the young prince and princess, and the shipwreck.
