Chorale No. 3 in A minor
by César Franck
OrganRomanticChorale~13 minadvanced
The last of Franck's Three Chorales, composed on his deathbed in 1890. Despite its title, the chorale theme only appears near the end as a radiant culmination. The work builds from a mysterious, quasi-improvisatory opening through a magnificent crescendo to one of the most glorious endings in organ literature.
